Inspired by the Douglas C-47 Skytrain—the WWII aircraft famously known as the Dakota—the Monteverde Dakota Gel Pen was created to mark the 80th anniversary of the war’s end. Its colors, markings, and engraved details honor that history, but its rugged build and sleek functionality make it a pen for everyday use, not just display.

Available in four finishes, the Dakota features a solid stainless-steel body and cap with chrome or gunmetal trim. Compact when capped, it slips neatly into a pocket; posted, it transforms into a full-sized pen. It comes fitted with a black, extra-fine needlepoint gel rollerball refill for sharp, silky writing. Monteverde also includes a ballpoint refill, so switching styles is as simple as swapping cartridges.

One of the Dakota’s standout features is its innovative slip-in cap.
