Blick Art Materials, LLC (“Blick” or “Company”) strongly objects to the use of slavery, child labor and human trafficking. The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (the “Act”) was designed to educate consumers regarding efforts a company is taking to prevent and stop human trafficking and slavery in their direct product supply chains. Under the Act, retailers and manufacturers doing business in California are required to provide a statement disclosing the steps they take to eliminate the use of slavery, child labor and human trafficking in their supply chain.
As a company doing business in California, Blick provides the following disclosures regarding the Act:
The Company expects its suppliers to comply with all applicable laws and conduct business in an ethical and fair manner. This means that suppliers cannot make products for sale by the Company using slavery, child labor, human trafficking, or any form of forced labor.
When we enter into contracts with our suppliers, we require them to comply with applicable laws, including laws prohibiting use of slavery, child labor and human trafficking. We do not currently specifically require that our direct suppliers certify that materials incorporated into their products comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which they do business.
We have engaged a third-party audit firm to engage in verification of our product supply chains to evaluate and address risks of human trafficking and slavery.
We reserve the right in our contracts with our suppliers to audit their facilities. We have also retained a third-party audit firm to conduct in-person supplier auditsto evaluate compliance with the Company standards for trafficking and slavery in supply chains and under the Act.
We are not aware of any supplier having been accused of using slavery, child labor or human trafficking to produce products for the Company or anyone else. The Company will investigate claims brought to its attention regarding the alleged use of slavery, child labor or human trafficking by its suppliers and will take appropriate actions to discontinue use of a supplier that uses such illegal and unethical business practices.
We provide regular training to our employees regarding ethical business practices. In that training, we advise our employees how to look for signs that a supplier is using slavery, child labor and human trafficking in producing products.
In addition, the Company has documented policies and procedures relating to grievances, disciplinary issues and whistleblowing. These policies and procedures are a fundamental basis of our relationships with our employees. They both allow and encourage any employee with relevant information regarding violations of law or regulations to come forward without retaliation so that the Company may take all necessary corrective action immediately.
