Inspired by the Douglas C-47 Skytrain—the WWII aircraft famously known as the Dakota—the Monteverde Dakota Fountain Pen was created to mark the 80th anniversary of the war’s end. Its colors, markings, and engraved details honor that history, while its stainless-steel build and refined functionality make it a pen for daily use, not just display.
The Dakota comes in four finishes, with a stainless-steel body and cap accented in gunmetal or chrome. Just 4-3/4″ when closed, it slips neatly into a pocket, then posts to become a balanced, full-sized pen.
At its heart is a premium JoWo #5 stainless steel nib, offered in Broad, Extra Fine, Fine, or Medium. Crafted in Germany, JoWo nibs are celebrated for their precision and consistency, delivering smooth flow and crisp lines page after page. Filling is simple: use the included push-in piston converter with bottled ink, or swap in any standard international cartridge.
Another standout feature is the Slip-In Cap. Engineered to glide smoothly into place and lock with an airtight seal, it keeps ink fresh and gives every closure a secure, deliberate feel. A small engraved propeller on the cap top pays subtle tribute to the Dakota’s historic namesake.
Each pen arrives in a green PU leather gift box with a custom military-inspired sleeve, making the Dakota a thoughtful gift for service members, history enthusiasts, or collectors alike.
