Activa Blackjack Clay

A combination of several different clays, Blackjack Clay is mined directly from the earth in East Texas. This extraordinary clay is never dried or processed into a powdered form, so its natural character and pliability (also known as plasticity) remain locked inside.

Perfect for hand-building, Activa Blackjack Clay won't sag, making it ideal for projects requiring vertical side strength. It bonds easily to itself and adapts to coil-building and free-form sculpture. The properties inherited from Mother Earth also give Blackjack Clay a smooth feel and texture that makes it enjoyable to throw.

Blackjack Clay can be carved and decorated easily when leather-hard. It also responds well to glazes, which can be applied directly to greenware or added to bisque ware before a second firing. It has a milk chocolate color and becomes soft buff/tan when fired.

Keep this clay sealed to remain moist. It stores well and retains a pleasant, clean earth smell.
