Frames for Canvases

Choosing a frame for a painting created on canvas is an important decision, but it can also be an enjoyable one. From simple wood or metal canvas frames that put your artwork front and center, to ornate frames that make a bolder statement, to tree-free options made from bamboo or recycled materials, Blick has a style to suit any subject, décor, or environment.

Want to create the illusion your artwork is "floating" in the frame? Choose from our collection of floater frames, available individually or in budget-friendly value packs. For landscape and wildlife scenes, consider our "aged" rustic barnwood frames. For seascapes, what better choice than a frame fashioned from driftwood?

Although the majority of paintings created on canvas are best displayed without glass, some canvas frames can also be used for other types of artwork, and may include a pre-cut mat, a glass or polystyrene face, a backing board, and hanging hardware — the ultimate in framing convenience.

Open Back Frames

Open back frames only include a frame face, so you can choose to add a mat, glass or acrylic face, backing material, hangers, or an easel back for tabletop display. Commonly used to frame paintings created on traditional profile stretched canvas or painting panels, open back frames can also be used to display photos, drawings, and other artwork. They can be simple or decorative, and are usually made of wood (including rustic woods such as barnwood and driftwood). Choose floater frames for a dramatic presentation, or frames with a linen or wood liner to add depth and dimension.
