The R&F Heated Spatula Tool can be used to fuse, manipulate, and finesse the surface of wax-based paints with control and precision. You can scribe, carve, burnish, blend, or model with it. The tool is comprised of a wooden handle, a temperature regulator, and interchangeable spatula heads (all sold separately). Each spatula head has a different shape to serve multiple functions and create a variety of effects.

Burnisher Spatula Head — The burnisher spatula head is useful for smoothing encaustic surfaces and for mark making.

Horn Spatula Head — The horn spatuala head is pointed for scribing. Its curved side is also great for adding texture to surfaces. The marks it makes are similar to those found on the ancient Fayum portraits.

Iron Spatula Head — The iron spatula head has a flat bottom and tapers to a sharp point. It is useful for both smoothing and texturing.

Spatula Handle — The R&F wooden handle plugs into the temperature regulator and has the ability to accept the interchangeable spatula heads below.

Temperature Regulator — This regulator is a necessary component to keep your R&F Heated Spatula working at a safe temperature.
