Encaustic paint is made from beeswax and color pigments. It’s either fluid and hot or cool and dry. Heat encaustic paint before applying it to your surface. Pour it directly onto your surface, or use brushes and palette knives to move and shape the paint before it cools. Then, use a heat gun to fuse the encaustic onto your surface. A heated palette can also be used to keep encaustic wax melted and ready to use.
Wax painting is ideal for artists who love showing texture in their work. Hot wax dries quickly, so finished encaustic art pieces show brush strokes and drips.
