Comments about St. Louis Crafts Liver of Sulphur:
They were very responsive when dealing with my delivery issue. Some package handlers can't figure out how to enter a security gate code... packages seem to return to the postal abyss.Regards,MichaelCreative Consulting, LLC

My middle school students used this product to age some copper that they added some designs to. Yes, it is smelly, but the whole "aging" process only took 15 minutes, so the smell didn't last long. They ran a cotton ball over their work, which had been soaking in the Liver of Sulphur. It turned black quickly (but my ratio to water was slightly more concentrated than the directions). They quickly threw the cotton ball away and then ran some wet steal wool over the top to shine the copper up and lighten the higher areas. They "scrubbed" it for 2-3 minutes. They did have to use sufficient pressure. Finally they rinsed and dried the copper, and ran a Q-tip over the top, just to get off any blackened copper that might flake off on its own later. I thought this product worked great. It darkened the recessed areas and the students were able to remove most of it from the higher areas. The end result was just what I wanted and hoped for. Because it is concentrated, one small bottle was enough for 120 projects.

Student work: Liver of Sulphur on copper foil
Maid-O-Metal Liver of Sulpher

I use LOS to oxidize copper. This product is expensive (except shipping). It is ready to use and lasts a long time! I have tried a "New" gel product that is out on the market and it is too strong. It took my coloring off the metal! This is LOS it does smell like rotten eggs, so wear a resperator if the smell bothers you!
Has no effect on tight wire weaves
For some odd reason, this product will not oxidize any of the tight wire weaves I do. It isn't the copper wire because the same wire will oxidize if not weaved. I have left pieces in the solution for more than an hour just to see if it simply takes longer, but that doesn't work either. I gave the product 2 stars, but only because it does work on non wire weaved jewelry.See photo
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Merchant response: Thank you for your review. Once the wire has been woven, the copper will need to be thoroughly cleaned to remove any oils that have transferred from your hands, as these will prevent the Liver of Sulphur from reacting with the metal. If we can be of further assistance with this project, we hope you'll consider reaching out to our Product Information Team at 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or firstname.lastname@example.org. We'll be happy to assist you!

Liver of Sulfur
Very good result in apply patina to brass. Unfortunately, The Blick store I went to does not stock it and the shipping costs more then a bottle of Sulfur itself.
liver of sulphur is liver of sulphur but
Liver of sulphur comes in several forms and prices. I like this liquid form and of course the best prices are at Blick along with their great service. I use this product to age copper tooling. Of course the odor of sulphur is terrible no matter where you purchase.
