The square paint stick shape of Enkaustikos Hot Sticks lets you use encaustic paints in a whole new way — for printmaking, rubbings, and even mixed media techniques. Hot Sticks can be melted on a hot palette to create puddles of color for your brush. Or glide Hot Sticks directly onto a heated substrate, just like lipstick.

Enkaustikos Hot Sticks allow for both the delicate layering of thin, transparent glazes and the creation of heavy impasto textures, without concern for "fat over lean." They're also very immediate — scraping to reveal underlying colors or add texture can happen within minutes. Plus, unlike other art mediums, they can be reworked right away or even years later, simply with the addition of heat.

Enkaustikos Hot Sticks are made with the finest, artist-grade, lightfast pigments, the finest damar resin, and United States Pharmaceutical Grade (USP) beeswax. They contain no bleach or synthetic adulterants. Plus, they're solvent-free, so they require no turpentine or mineral spirits for cleanup.

Interference, Set of 5 — These paints are made with special interference pigments that change color when viewed from different angles. Because the pigments are transparent, they're influenced by the color of the background they're applied to. The effect is subtle over a light background and dramatic over a dark background.
