Welcome to dickblick
These acid-free papers have a smooth, matte surface that accepts pencil, chalk, pastel, marker, and crayon — but their usefulness goes far beyond that of a drawing paper.
Daler-Rowney Canford Papers cut, fold, quill, curve, crease, glue, and emboss beautifully to make paper sculptures, masks, models, mock-ups, and origami. Use them in collage and mixed media, and for eye-catching displays, cards, and paper crafts.
Because Canford Papers are acid-free and lignin-free, they're perfect for mounting photos and for making memory books. They’re also ideal for screen printing, block printing, and photocopying.

Wood pulp used to produce Daler-Rowney paper products comes from managed forests in Europe and North America. These forests harvest and replant trees specifically for paper production, and they annually plant more trees than are felled.
No rainforest trees or endangered hardwood species are used. Since only oxygen or chlorine dioxide bleached pulps are used, Daler-Rowney papers can be classified as chlorine free.

Not Sure What Media this Paper is Actually For
from Pemberton, NJ
When I saw this paper and how brilliant the colors were, I really wanted this paper to work. I purchased the Brights A3 pack several weeks ago. Two days ago, I began a project with a bright yellow sheet of this paper. After 3 hours of basic linework, I began to spread my PanPastels across the sheet. A few minutes later, I noticed I couldn't layer the pastels as I had on my other pastel paper from a different brand.Try as I might, even spraying a workable fixative to build up a barrier/texture to add more layers, I still failed to get the pastel to stick. Then, I tried some half-stick chalk pastels, but still couldn't get them to take on my Yellow paper. Next I tried to add some oil-based colored pencils to cover the PanPastels. The pencil layers wouldn't take either. Eventually without thinking, I painted a white acrylic gouache to try and start over, forgetting that acrylic cannot be layered over the oil-based color pencils. Fail.I started over my linework on some dark purple paper from the same Daler Rowney Brights A3 Pad that I had pulled my yellow out of. Three hours later after completing my linework over again, I decided since the PanPastels had failed that I would stick to primarily my CdA Luminance & FC Polychromos pencils for the entire piece.Again, I was unable to layer my colored pencils past the second layer. I had been very careful not to press too hard while layering pencils. I had built them up slowly. After fighting with the pencils, I gave up using the paper altogether and just turned to my Arches Hot Press A3 Watercolor Block instead. After I had switched to the Arches, my project turned out perfect.Bottom Line: The paper colors are beautiful, but I don't believe that this paper is made for all the media it claims to be made for.I've been a professional artist for over 28 years and I know my media-paper compatibility. I won't buy this paper again. I've already placed an order here for another brand of paper. Pictures Below.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this paper. We're sorry that it turned out to not be a good fit for your technique. This is one of the smoothest surfaces commonly used with pastels, and while that makes it the go-to paper for some artists, it's by no means for everyone. Please know that whenever you're considering trying out an unfamiliar surface, our Product Information Team is happy to advise. Product Specialists are available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542 or email@example.com, and they'll be glad to help you!

I don't know what else to compare it to except color copy paper or construction paper. In comparison to those the quality is great! It is hard like cardstock but the texture is more condusive to art projects. Very happy with this!
I. Love. This. Paper!
from Kansas City, MO
Buying paper in bulk from Blick's store is one of the better deals I have found. I absolutely love this paper for all of my drawings; it's an ESSENTIAL! It helps pan pastel and charcoal blend really smoothly and has a very smooth tooth to achieve a nice build up of pigment. My absolute favorite is "gun metal" but any of them would be great for your needs!

Absolutely Superior Cardstock!
By On The Fly
from Silver Spring, MD
The Frosted Gold Canford Card by Daler Rowney is a superior quality cardstock for the following reasons: (1)The color is a rich gold. (2) The weight is 90lbs (150gsm) which is a heavy cardstock. (3) Excellent cardstock for invitations, card crafting and making envelopes. (4) It is easy to score with a bone folder and it creases well. (5) Use a Sharpie Ultra Fine Pen if you have to actually write on the cardstock.Don't purchase any other cardstock!
Wonderful Paper, Wonderful Packing, Wonderful Service!
from Ukiah, CA
I've used but one sheet of this fine paper. I did some drawings on it and love the consistency and strength of it. The colors I purchased are light but very beautiful and are the perfect carrier of my drawing. The packaging was remarkable. I thought the sheets would be rolled and that I'd have to unroll and flatten them in order to use them. They came completely secured in a very strong cardboard covered not once but twice to keep the paper's integrity and have it arrive safely. I am impressed. Thank you.
