Guide to Screen Printing Stencils

.

The three types of stencils used in screen printing include hand-cut stencils, tusche or block-out stencils, and emulsions. Hand-cut stencils are cut from thin paper, film, or vinyl. This method requires the least amount of preparation, making it a great option for beginners. Tusche or block-out stencils require drawing fluid and screen filler to hand draw your image, allowing for more detail than hand-cut stencils. Emulsions are the most complicated technique, allowing you to create a highly detailed, photographic stencil from pre-printed image.
