About Ampersand
Ampersand professional-quality painting surfaces are not just a joy to paint on, they also make colors brighter and more luminous than when applied to paper, canvas, or even other panels.
Look for the new Archiva-Seal logo on every coated Ampersand Museum Series Panel. The most advanced formula for sealing wood, Archiva-Seal technology ensures that Ampersand’s painting grounds — and your artwork — will be preserved over time.
All Ampersand hardboard is made without formaldehyde or harmful VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), unlike other hardboards and MDF boards, and all Museum Series painting grounds are archival, acid-free and non-yellowing.
Ampersand cradles are hand-built using top-quality 13-ply Russian birch plywood and glued flush to the back edges of the panels to provide extra support and flexible presentation options. Choose the 1/8" flat profile for studio and plein air painting and standard framing; the ¾" deep cradle for more support and typical canvas-style framing; or the 2" deep cradle for maximum support and frame all in one. You can even paint or stain the sides!
Ampersand Museum Series panels are made in the USA - every panel is guaranteed to be consistent from one painting to the next.
