Show off your colors like never before! An archival, acid-free textured clay surface that absorbs watercolors like a fine paper, Aquabord allows colors to retain their purity and vibrancy in a way that even the finest watercolor papers can't match.
Its unique surface is perfect for watercolors and gouache, needs no stretching, and will not tear, shrink, or buckle.
Endlessly glaze and lift to underlying layers of color — or completely lift back to white without damaging the surface!
Aquabord is also ideal for casein, acrylics, and more. Unlike paper, Aquabord can be sealed and displayed glass-free, keeping colors and textures true to life.
Aquabord is made in the USA.

I would not recommend this product for watercolors

I found this material difficult to use for watercolors. If your technique is glazing layers, it doesn't work.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I would purchase these again
By Happy Customer
I enjoy painting on aquaboard. I love how the mediums work on them and how they allow play in what I am painting. I have purchased many of them.

Aquabord is my go-surface for watermedia
By Rene Lynch
from Tallahassee, Florida
I have been using Aquabord almost exclusively. For 15 years. I love the way it keeps colors vibrant, and how easy it is to achieve the level of intensity I want in my tropical watermedia paintings.
from Saint Paul, MN
I recently ordered some large Ampersand boards. They arrived in perfect condition because they were expertly packed. This is no small feat! I highly recommend D. Blick!
More texture than I expected
It's more textured than I expected, but the gouache and watercolors that I tried glides on like butter on the Aquabord surface which I loved. I'll definitely use it again for watercolor paintings, but I won't try adding any outlines because they end up too bumpy.
I hated watercolors before I found this product.
If you're worried about needing to plan everything perfectly and having issues fixing mistakes, try this board. There is nothing ngg g quite like it and it has made me love watercolors. From Block, the product was well taken care of and shipped in great packaging. The corners can chip off if you hit them hard enough and that is usually what I see from other retailers.
Fantastic alternative to paper for any watercolor artist
from atlanta, ga
This panel is great. It takes a little while to get used to painting on it. It takes the paint differently than paper but you can pretty much erase paint off it with water and a hard brush too which helps with fixing mistakes. Once it's varnished they can be hung like that or put in floater frames and look fantastic.

This is a great product. Works very well with watercolors. I love this option because it doesn't wilt like paper does. Try it!

watercolor on ampersand aquabord
Aquabord is an amazing acid-free surface for water media that won't warp, buckle or tear. This surface works similarly to a cold-press watercolor paper with several benefits: colors remain true and vibrant since the paint sits on top of the surface rather than absorbing into it. Multiple layers of clean color can be stacked one on top of the other, and lifting back to white is incredibly easy. You can scrub the surface without any damage — and once your painting is complete, you can frame without glass or backing!
Ampersand manufactures a wide variety of archival artist panels. There is a surface for every artist, every medium and every technique. Watch this video to learn which of these boards is right for you!
