  • Food thickener

  • Squeeze Bottle

  • Jar for Mixing

  • Measuring Cup and Spoon

Prior to starting:

Prewash table cover in the washing machine before dyeing and dry. This removes any manufacturer’s finishes that may interfere with dye absorption.

Instructions:

  1. Wearing gloves, mix 2 tablespoons of well-shaken Scarlet All-Purpose liquid dye with two cups of tap water. Add food thickener following directions on package and shake well. Allow dye to sit and thicken for 30 minutes.

  2. Pour half of the thickened dye solution into squeeze bottle and leave remaining in the jar.

  3. Cover work area with plastic table cover and have paper towels handy to protect against any possible spills

  4. Lay tablecloth flat on covered work surface.

  5. To apply dyes, hold the squeeze bottle upside down and shake to create splatter effect.

  6. Use remaining dye solution and pipette to fill in empty spaces on the table cover.

  7. To set the dye, spray ColorStay Dye Fixative over the entire tablecloth.

  8. Allow dyes to set and dry for up to 1 hour.

  9. Rinse in cold water until rinse water runs clear. This is important to prevent unabsorbed dye from bleeding into the white areas.
