For Reverse Tie-Dye:
1. Pre-wash a black T-shirt or other garment to remove potential finishes on the fabric.
2. Use rubber bands to tie the fabric. Make a standard swirl pattern by grasping the item in the center, and spinning it.
3. Following the instructions on the packet, add Rit Color Remover to nearly boiling water.
4. Submerge the fabric in the Rit mixture. Stir the mixture and turn the garment occasionally for even coverage. Most fabrics will release color in 5–15 minutes, but time will vary depending on fabric type. Follow instructions on the package.
5. Rinse the garment in cool water, and remove the rubber bands. Wash it in a washing machine.
6. While the fabric is still damp, tying in the same places as before, re-band the garment. Rubber bands should be secured slightly looser than before.
7. Follow the mixing instructions for Rit Liquid Dye. Mix colors in a large plastic squeeze bottle and apply the dye to fabric.
8. Wrap the garment in plastic wrap and microwave it for 3 minutes to heat set. Allow it to cool.
9. Rinse the garment in cool water, remove the rubber bands, and then wash it in a washing machine. For best results use Rit Color Stay Dye Fixative.
For Jacquard deColorant Paste and deColorant Mist:
1. Pre-wash a black T-shirt or other garment to remove potential finishes on the fabric.
2. Apply Jacquard deColorant with a foam brush or firm bristle brush. Use stencils, or draw an image directly on the fabric.
3. Allow the garment to dry.
4. Iron to remove color.
• Tip: Don’t move the iron around too much. Press directly down, and pick up the iron to move across the garment. 5. Rinse the garment in cool water and wash it in a washing machine. 6. Paint dye directly on the garment in specific areas, or follow steps 7–9 for tie-dye
