1. Using a ¾" brush dipped in light pink, paint two sides of a heart in candy cane shapes on your canvas.
2. Mark out stripes evenly along your two candy cane shapes using light blue paint.
3. Begin to paint each stripe a different color, working through the rainbow in order.
4. Mix white into each color used for your candy cane to create a lighter shade, then layer this color on the left side of each stripe.
5. Add even more white into the previous rainbow colors to create a pastel version of each. This color should be placed in a small dot shape on the left side to create a highlight.
6. Cover your entire background, painting around the candy canes, in blue or whatever color you’d like.
7. Dip a 3/8" brush into Payne’s Grey and add a shadow on the right outside of your candy canes.
8. Taking light blue or white, make thin white lines between each color stripe on your candy canes using a round brush.
9. To finish your candy cane, put white paint on your brush and lightly go around the edges of your candy to create the illusion of a clear wrapper.
