1. Draw lightly in pencil so that the pencil doesn’t show through the ink unless you want it to.
2. For a scratched-on and sketchy pen look use the edge of a 0.3 fine liner pen.
3. Use a size 5 brush and add Permanent Rose watercolour and apply it straight to the paper to get a fluffy teddy coat effect. Then lightly wet the brush to thin the colour. Tip: flick the brush outwards for textured edges.
4. Dilute the Rose to colour the tights and bag. Use a dry 00-size brush to apply the Cadmium Red for outlining the coat, shoes, lips and sunglasses.
5. Add some definition to the tree and a few edgy urban details to the ground and pavement with Lamp Black with a slightly damp brush to achieve a ‘brushed on’ effect.
