Strathmore Imperial 500 the Watercolor Workhorse
By Christopher Guilfoil
Comments about Strathmore Imperial 500 Series Watercolor Paper:
Not your typical European watercolor paper, this American standby has a stronger surface and holds up well to repeated workings. I use it without stretching outdoors and stretched indoors. It is versatile and high quality.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Excellent Quality Paper
Purchased this paper for use during a week long painting workshop. Was excellent quality and I would purchase again.
The Best for the price.

This paper will take a beating. Price is quite comparable to other brands. It has maintained its quality for the last 18 years I have use it and I would be devastated if it were ever discontinued. It is a hard paper with good wetting tolerance. Will take all the lifting and scrubbing i give it. We use the 140 lb. paper not the 300 lb. because it is easier to mount. We do not We wet the paper to stretch it. if there is any bulbing just spits the back with clear water and put something flat on it and it presses flat in about 20 minutes. Seams to 0nly come in 30"x 22" sheets

I buy watercolor paper in bulk & cut my own sizes to paint original greeting cards. It is cost effective to buy from Blick. The quality of materials and service is excellent. The are my #1 "go to" store for art materials.
I would buy this product again
I used Faber Castell brush pens on this paper. The color came out bright and beautiful. Layering colors also worked very well.

I have used this with pencil with ease and reproduction from it is flawless. I will be using it soon with water color wash and think it will be perfect. Thank you.

I came back for seconds
By Case Art
This watercolour paper responds beautifully and has bold, rich color display. Was able to achieve high detail and work-ability. Only thing is it has a bit of an odor, which is typical for paper like this.

Sublime surface for my multiprocess art work.
from New York State
Excellent surface for my work with watercolor underpainting upon which encaustic monotype application of wax based paint in a hand applied printing technique. The paper has body, brightness and texture which imparts a stunning effect when coated in part with sheer metallic encaustic paint. Beautifully withstands the multiprocess handling required. Luminosity and surface create a luxurious visual experience due to the part this extraordinary paper imparts. Only the best materials will do.
