By combining the characteristics of watercolor paper with the finish of a drawing sheet, Strathmore has created a paper that performs like no other.
Strathmore Mixed Media paper offers true wet media performance on a dry media finish — ideal for any mixed media application, including watercolors, gouache, acrylics, graphite, pen and ink, colored pencils, markers, pastels, collage, and more.
For mixed media sketches, quick studies, and practicing of techniques, this medium-weight, 90 lb (190 gsm) paper features a vellum surface. The sheets are wirebound into a sketchbook format, each pad containing 40 sheets. The micro-perforated sheets are actual size when removed (except for the 5½" × 8½" size). The 5½" × 8½" size is not micro-perforated, but the sheets are actual size when removed at the wire binding.

Comments about Strathmore 300 Series Mixed Media Pads:
this sketchpad is excellent for drawing in any media...also hold up with light watercolor sketches. I have a number of these pads filled to the brim . they are a nice size for doing plein air and just at home. I am amazed at the quality of this sketchbook. It is quite like bristle board or card stock.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good papers! For either practicing or painting a final art

It's great that brand!
Great with the Pitt Pens!
from Beavercreek, OR
I got the small size one to use for sketching with my new Pitt Pens, and it's perfect for that. No warp or bleed-through with them, and is heavy enough to use for finished drawings in a pinch. I haven't put any real wet stuff on it yet, but for these pens, it satisfies every requirement.

Don't hesitate to buy Strathmore Mixed Media Paper 300
By Happy pencil person

First of all...MADE IN THE U.S.A. My quest for the elusive perfect for all paper is over. For me, this is the perfect paper for colored pencils, watercolor pencils, inktense pencils, micron pens and does pretty good for water soluble graphite. Not so good for Wolffs carbon pencils at least not for me, I guess I will stay with the canson xl mixed media for those. I love the Strathmore mixed media 300 series for everything else, Strathmore please do not change anything about this paper.

I purchased this paper to use with Prismacolor alcohol based markers. I was expecting slightly thicker paper. It has a smooth finish and it's easy to lay down color. However, it does start to bleed through when laying down heavy color. It doesn't actually bleed onto the next page, or it hasn't yet anyways, just through to the other side. While I'm unsure if it's the best paper for markers, it works well with all other kinds of media. I'm not sure I would use it with media that is too wet (like heavy watercolors).

I carry one of the A5 sized ones in my bag at all times for sketching. The paper is neither too thick or too thin, the spiral makes it so easy to draw on a flat surface (and the pages don't try to roll out of the bind)I really like these. They are wonderful to sketch on, ink, paint with illustration markers and even watercolor. If anyone wonders about this: Some sketchpads have that punctured line towards the spiral in case you want to cleanly rip off the page from the notebook. These sketchpads don't have that (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).
Strathmore makes the best papers. I use them for acrylic painting. This is the 300 Series, which is not quite as thick as the 400 Series. I put a coat of gesso on the sheet before I paint which I don't have to do with the 400 Series but I still love this pad.

smooth sailing with this pad!
from Warwick ny
love, love, love this sketchbook! I bought one at a local art store then found them online at dick blick and stocked up! I especially enjoy the results of drawing with a fine pen...like a sharpie. It goes on smooth and has enough thickness to absorb the ink but not wrinkle the paper. I prefer the smallest size they make so I can take it along with me. So good to have around the house for daily drawing. It is similar to bristel board paper without the great expense.
