My favourite travel set
from South Bend, Indiana
(FYI: I did not buy this item from Blick, but I really like this product and thought it would be a good idea to post my thoughts on this sight.)I got the 16 oval pan set of these paints when I was first learning watercolor and was in love with them. A few years later and I still love them for traveling and doodling in my sketchbook. In my experience, the pans activate easily and the colors are really quite vibrant and pigmented and flow beautiful. They are not washable, which is a plus for me because it usually means that the paints layer easier. The fact that the individual pans are replaceable makes things even better. The case is nice and sturdy and the 16 set offers plenty of mixing space. The case is not super compact, but it is small and light enough for me to put in my bag for traveling. They are not lightfast, sadly, butt for me this isn't a big deal since I use them in a sketchbook. Overall a great option for a person just getting into watercolor or for someone like me who just wants a cheap set for traveling and sketchbook doodling. Would recommend
Fine enough colors for the price

For educational purposes with a tight budget these watercolors suited our needs just fine. Although initially the colors are not as vibrant as liquid watercolors, they dry quickly which means a second or third layer provides an easy-to-achieve beautiful depth. The students were able to create color in color effects as well.

When I was in elementary school, Prang was the go-to watercolor for art. These watercolors are good quality and semi-moist, which means it doesn't take a whole lot of water to activate the color. In the box of 16, there are several beautiful colors which can be mixed with the other colors to provide an ever broader palette. Very pleasing to the eye and good value!

Thank you for offering individual colors! We have had to buy set color pallets in the past and end up have a lot of black left over!
Great if you're a student on a budget!

I have done great paintings with the set of 8! I borrowed a set from my high school art room and completed a large 16x20 piece of artwork. Its been a few months since that and I've obtained my own set (the 16 set one). I am a college student now and I still use these for several different art projects, big or small. I would like to invest on high quality watercolors one day, but for now these do an amazing job with the sort of watercolor projects that I make! Definitely if you are a beginner artist and want to practice watercolors daily, go for this set of watercolors! Even for bigger artworks, these are perfect! No need for expensive watercolors. The only thing I don't like much is the slight smell, but that is only because I am very sensitive to smell (even the slightest of smells)! You can easily overcome it with a light mask. It is not such a big bother. Just wanted to mention it. Other than that I love these!
