Jungle Gems Crystal Glazes contain small pieces of glass frit that transform into splashes of color and patterns when fired, demonstrating the magic of the kiln. These incredible glazes can be used alone for overall dramatic effects or be combined with other glazes, such as Mayco Stroke & Coat, to add visual interest. Create your own unique glazes by layering different crystal glazes, as the crystals will burst through the glaze surfaces.

Jungle Gems Crystal Glazes are formulated to mature at cone 06/05, but many can be fired to higher temperatures. Firing the glazes vertically or flat will affect the final look, as these glazes will move during firing, affecting the flow of the crystals. The mid-range (cone 6) performance of each glaze can be found on the individual color label or on Mayco’s website. Higher heat work will increase the movement, which means the lower portion of the ware should not be glazed completely.

Mayco Stroke & Coat is specially formulated for application on bisque, greenware, and even wet clay (see Note below for exceptions). The ready-to-use colors stay true from jar to fired finish, and the colors are intermixable.

This glaze is perfect for controlled application over unfired glazes. All colors and glazes are non-toxic. Cone 06–05 (1828°–1888°F, 998°C–1031°C).

__Note__ — Do not apply Brush Glaze (Natural Clear) and Dipping Glaze (Natural Clear) to greenware or wet clay. These glazes should only be applied to bisque ware.
