A high-end paper at a high-end price
from Upper Black Eddy, PA
Despite the high price, I bought a 9x12 cold press block of this paper to see if it was worth it, since I haven't been 100% satisfied with the other popular brands. I find the paper to be excellent -- no serious buckling, holds tightly to the block (i.e., doesn't separate like Arches), and the surface is very forgiving. If the price were a little more manageable, I would make it my go-to brand for watercolor blocks.

Its a bit over rated...
from Prince George, Va
I concur with the other written reviews on this paper. It is a bit over rated and I have had better results with Arches and Fab. Artistico paper. Its harder to cut off the block than other artist grade blocks. I have a cold press block and I don't think its a sturdy as my Arches block of paper of the same weight. I get the same lift off of this paper as I do my Arches and FA paper. I agree that the paper doesn't hold up well on the block with a heavy wash..even slightly and I wasn't expecting that. The colors don't have the extra vibrant effect that I was expecting either. Finally the cost of this paper doesn't support what they are asking for. I would recommend trying a few loose sheets and then make your decision as to the quality your'e looking for. I have a 300pd loose sheet I am going to try and maybe that may change my opinion...but not on the blocks.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Happy with end result
from Allentown PA
I found myself needing to restrain from the layering I usually do with my florals, as the paper allows for easy coloration from the beginning. Also, able to remove mistakes easily with damp tissue. The colors are true and intense. Paint drys quickly and leaves water trail, which I have to watch or go over later. So, some adjusting from how I usually paint on cold press, but happy with end result.

I know that I'm new to watercolors, but nevertheless, this block didn't perform as I expected. Again, I'm a novice. So take this review with a grain of salt. My first complaint about this paper is that it's supposed to be cold pressed, but in my opinion it has more in common with hot pressed than cold. The paper is supposed to be 100% cotton. However, after applying multiple washes I noticed paper fibers pealing off and ruining the painting. Again, maybe it's me, but it seemed like the colors wouldn't spread as easy as Arches or Fabriano cold pressed paper. My last concern is that when I was done with the painting, and ripped it off from the block, color had bled through to the sheet below. I can't imagine that is normal with other better blocks. The paper seems fine as long as you don't use heavy washes. And since it's pretty smooth, it's nice to use with pens.
