I use this paper for watercolor paintings. It is a rough paper, but probably not as rough as some. It holds a lot of water and I have not needed to stretch the paper before use. I have also been able to scrub off areas that I didn't like. So, it takes abuse.

Great quality at a great price
from Austin, TX
This is now my go-to paper. I love it. I only wish that I could find it locally or in large sheets. This paper performs about as well as Arches but for a better price (And Arches pads are often out of stock). It handles a lot of water and gives you ample time to work with a piece before it dries. Anyone who has suffered with paper that dries too fast will appreciate this. I also am able to use both sides of the paper if i'm unsatisfied with my first attempt. This is often not possible with cheaper papers. The only difference between this paper and Arches is that the Arches cold press has more texture. For me this hasn't been a problem, just a consideration. When it comes to watercolor, paper choice is really important. Its great to try a variety and keep at least a small stash of different stuff for different types of paintings. Arches and Langston Prestige are my favorites and most used.

This paper is a great value. I have noticed no significant differences in terms of performance and quality of this paper to any of the other top brands such as Arches, Fabriano, etc. The advantages to using this paper to the other brands, in my experience, include: Price, same 100% cotton material, excellent resistence to buckling, brightness, and a good texture to the CP surface. I really don't have anything negative to say about it.

Daler-Rowney Watercolor Paper
from Dallas, TX
I am not a professional watercolor artist BY FAR but(based upon framing shop patrons wanting to know where to purchase prints), I think Daler Rowney must be special. I don't think I am good yet and give my watercolor paintings only to family & friends. I took up watercolor painting about one year ago. Interestingly, most all of my family & friends choose my watercolor paintings (only when given their choice) on Daler Rowney versus those I paint on a top brand label. LOL but I personally choose my paintings on the top watercolor paper. BTW, I love the top brand but Daler Rowney has a has a 100% cotton paper that will "wow" the artist. Daler Rowney is so distinct in appearance from the major brand that I look at it and ask myself how I did it. I love this paper--unusual it is in finish, but I can also paint in detail. The English are ahead of the competition. Just my opinion, but real professional artists should give it a try or two.

I originally bought this paper because of its value. However, after having used it, I now will add other positive reasons when I buy it.....the lovely way it accepts color.....glazing especially. Also, the fact that it doesn't buckle, even with heavy washes or pouring on color. If I had to pay retail, I would hesitate to use this for "everyday" painting. DICK BLICK prices on this paper allow me to use this regularly! Thanks for carrying this wonderful product!

The paper took my watercolor washes beautifully... Held up to applying soft pastels dry and in washes on top of the watercolor very well. Sturdy paper with beautiful acceptance of washes.

A WONDERFUL PAPER
from North Bend, Or
I have tried all of the brands of reasonably priced papers Blick has to offer and this is my favorite. It holds up extremely well to rough handling as I ask a lot of my watercolor paper. Being on a tight budget this is one paper I will happily use again. I love everything the English do with watercolor art and art materials.

This is such easy paper to use. You can add as much colour as you want but also pull the colour back out again. It is versatile, I have used it for many different techniques and with several water based mediums.
Langton Prestige is a 100% cotton, artist and conservation quality paper. Manufactured with extra l ong fibers for durablility and strength, these sheets can take heavy color washes without buckling.
