Ceracolors Waterborne Wax Paints are professional-quality, waterborne wax-based paints that let you explore everything from thick impasto to delicate watercolor washes—no solvents or heated tools needed. Formulated with pure pigments dispersed in natural and naturally derived waxes, their wax base imparts remarkable optical depth and luminosity.

Colors dry quickly yet can be re-wet and blended until fully cured. Once dry, they can be sculpted, carved, or fused with heat to achieve encaustic-like effects.

For heavy impasto, mix in a gel or paste medium to minimize shrinkage. While Ceracolors dry to a durable film, wax remains inherently soft, so handle finished pieces with care. Rigid supports like wood panels are best for thicker applications, though canvas and paper also perform well.

Heat-fusing can further harden the surface and improve wet-scrub resistance. Available in 50 ml tubes, Ceracolors offer the richness of beeswax-based paint with the convenience of water cleanup and a completely non-toxic, solvent-free formula.

Ceracolors are a unique water-mixable wax paint designed to give artists the look and feel of encaustic—without heat, fumes, or solvent.
Ceracolors can be thinned with water like acrylic or gouache for transparent, watercolor-like washes, or applied thick from the tube for rich, opaque brushwork. The paint dries in two stages: first, it becomes touch-dry quickly so you can build layers in minutes; then it enters a longer curing stage where wax crystals coalesce. During this period, the paint can still be reopened with a wet brush.
Explore their range of specialized mediums, molding pastes, retarder, fluid, and gel, to tailor the paint’s behavior. Use Fluid Medium for smooth glazes or Gel Medium for textured impasto. Once fully cured, the surface can be buffed to reveal a deep, luminous wax sheen.
