Use this lightweight, professional-quality maple plywood board for taping down watercolor papers. The thickness of the board is 5-ply, measuring ½" (13 mm), for durability and warp-resistance.

Gets the job done

Comments about American Easel Wood Painting Boards:
I bought a 15x19" board to stretch watercolor paper with, and so far I'm fairly pleased. I like that the board is lightweight, yet sturdy, and has so far kept from warping. My only complaint is that being plywood, it could use a good sanding along the edges. Overall, it was a nice buy and I'm planning on picking up a few more in the near future.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

OK for stretching water color paper.

It worked ok to stretch paper. It is a little heavy to carry outside the home. It seems to be more durable that gatorboard or incredible grafix board. But the incredible grafix board is a lot lighter to carry around. I like having both products.

Perfect for travel artist
from Buffalo, NY
I bought two 15x19 boards and was able to tape mount 8 pieces of artwork, size 9x12, that I am working on, and take them on a "get away & paint" vacation. They fit nicely in a small suitcase. I used each side for 2 canvas sheets and could work on different pieces as desired. They are sturdy enough to stand upright, I leaned them against a window on a sill so I had a view of outdoors for inspiration. Also I was able to use them flat when needed. They can also be used on an easel. The edges are unfinished but I cover the boards with brown paper and artist tape to keep them free of paint. I recommend them to any artist for use with acrylic on canvas sheets, or for watercolor artists.
