I would never buy this block again or recommend it to others

Comments about Cartiera Magnani Acquerello Portofino Watercolor Blocks:
I have tried multiple mediums on this paper (Gouache, watercolor, ink, acrylic paints, and colored pencils). The paper has a similar effect of using constructions paper, very fuzzy when used. It is impossible to paint smoothly which is the whole reason i bought the paper to begin with because i wanted to have a smooth surface to paint gouache onto. When i tried to use my brush pens the paper left fuzz all over the tip and it didnt apply smoothly either. When my paint dried the paper looked like to took sandpaper to it before painting (very unappealing). Its like the paper is incapable to taking brush strokes entirely. I also tried to use brush pens but the paper left fuzz all over the tip and it didnt apply smoothly either. As well as being unable to painted,If you take an rubber eraser or kneaded the paper looses what little integrity it has so I cant do anything with graphite . Basically it's uses are colored pencil as long as you dont erase and liner pens and probably ball-point pensThe only things ive used that work on the paper are colored pencils and copic multi-liner pens. The paper, in my opinion, is literally unusable for the wet mediums it lists its capable of taking (Gouache, watercolor, ink, acrylic paints)For its poor quality i have to say its highly overpriced and not worth even entertaining the idea buying.Overall a very disappointing purchase
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Blick keeps contacting me to review this product, so I guess I better write something so they'll stop. This is great paper. Washes go on easily without being too absorbent, and the paper can handle changes and corrections without damaging the surface. As I already said, it's great paper. In fact I wish they would carry it in their local stores.

Comments about Acquerello Portofino Watercolor Pads:
a very good paper for Watercolour
from Montreal, Canada
I like very much this paper because the surface is smooth. It is difficult to find hot press watercolour paper. This Italian one is absorbent but not too much and responds very well to different textures, different thicknesses of the colour or the ink i apply.

It doesn't have to be taped down and it will warp or wrinkle. It stays nice and flat.

used for colored pencil painting
I have used this paper for colored pencils, and it held up nicely to the heavy application of pigment (ten to fifteen layers), and washing with OMS. No tears or fragmentation of the paper surface. It did not discolor after fixative was applied. Really nice paper at a good price.

I love this paper. I use it for very loose watercolors because it shows everything, underdrawing, drips of water and things run nicely on it. For me it's all about the nature of the materials. Nature happens on this paper. The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 is that I have had one or two pads arrive unevenly sized on one side. I liked it but if I were doing a different type of work it wouldn't have worked for me. The blocks don't hold together as well as other brands but this is still my favorite paper. I use this outside a lot so everything I use gets a lot of rough handling.
Nice Size for travel
Good quality for the price
