Blick Art Materials Acquires St. Louis-Based Artmart

Equal Commitment to Local Art Community Continues

February 1, 2023 | GALESBURG, Illinois – Blick Art Materials is excited to announce Artmart, an independently owned art supply store in St. Louis, has joined the Blick family through an acquisition.

Started in 1952, Artmart has served the St. Louis community for 70 years and was known as “The Creative Marketplace.” Like Artmart, Blick has had an equal commitment to artists, educators, students, and its associates since 1911. Blick welcomes Artmart associates to its family and looks forward to continuing outstanding service to the greater St. Louis creative community.

According to Bob Buchsbaum, CEO of Blick Art Materials, “We are very excited about this opportunity and are excited to invest in the new Artmart location. We take pride in investing in the art community and fully expect the ‘new’ location to be the best art supply store in selection, service, and price that St. Louis has ever seen.”

The store at 2355 S. Hanley Rd. is closed for renovations while the Blick store at 6300 Delmar Blvd. remains fully open to provide customers with their custom printing, framing and creative needs. When renovations are complete, Blick will move its entire St. Louis-based operation to the Hanley location and repoen as the area’s newest Blick Art Materials in the Spring of 2023.

Customers will have access to thousands of new art supplies, including an enhanced selection of Utrecht Artists’ Paints, as well as trending craft items, stationery, and unique gifts.

“I am so pleased that we are able to partner and merge with a family-owned company that is dedicated to continuing the tradition of service and care to customers, associates and our creative community,” said former Artmart Owner Keith Baizer.
