1. Select a frame to makeover and remove photos, glass, and backing.
2. If the frame is made of plastic, metal, or painted wood, lightly sand surfaces by hand to remove any loose paint. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
3. Coat the frame with the desired color of chalky finish paint using a nylon paintbrush. Paint the front side of the frame only and rotate frequently to ensure all areas are covered.
4. Allow to dry for at least one hour.
5. Select a color of wax paste to enhance the frame. Deeper colors can be applied to recessed or decorative areas to “antique” the frame. Use lighter colors to accent edges and curves.
6. Work the wax into recessed areas with a stiff bristle brush. Use a soft cloth, such as an old t-shirt or paint rag, to blend and smooth.
Optional: Gently sand areas of the frame to further distress.
