To release the ink of your Copic Acrea, shake the marker and press down lightly. Start by drawing 3 arches in a row, slightly lower than the middle of the card.
Add a second line to the first and third arches to make into crescents.
Fill the crescents in.
Add a second line to the middle arch to make it into a lemon.
Add another line below to turn it into a beak.
Draw a “smile” under the face.
Place a dot above the beak.
Draw a heart shape from the dot until it hits the “smile” line. Leave a little space on each side of the “smile” line.
Draw an arch above the heart that mirrors the “smile” line.
Connect the top arch to the bottom with a big set of parentheses (one on each side).
Add smaller parentheses above and below the big parentheses drawn in the previous step.
Draw a set of diagonal parallel lines coming from the line below the face.
Connect the small sets of parentheses with arches, making sure not to draw through the parallel lines. On top, this is the beginning of a hat. On the bottom, this is the penguin’s scarf.
Finish the scarf by adding 2 more parallel lines. Add fringe at the bottom of both sets of parallel lines!
To finish the hat, draw a semicircle on top. Then draw a much smaller semicircle on top of that for the pom-pom.
Draw 2 large parentheses under the scarf. Line these up with the heart lines.
Add an arch at the end of each one. These should match the shape of the eyes.
Make the arches into feet by rounding the outer edges and bottom – think “almond-shaped.”
Connect the two feet in the middle with a small line.
Add wings by drawing a backwards J and regular J from the edge of the scarf to the side of the body.
On the inside of the body, draw parentheses on either side, ending them before they reach the feet.
Fill in the wings, outer part of body, and outer part of face with black.
Fill in the beak and feet with orange.
Fill in the hat and scarf however you like!
Optional: Add little asterisks for snowflakes, holiday greetings, etc to finish.
