Hand-Painted Ceramic Art with Sharpie Acrylic Markers | Kawaii & Floral DIY Projects

Instructions

Additional Materials

  • Paper towel or bubble wrap (for blending + stability)

  • Scratch paper for swatching and pressure testing

Project 1 | Kawaii Fruit Mug

  1. Swatch all marker colors on various surfaces to test opacity and flow.

  2. Use the orange marker to paint circles around the mug—these will be oranges.

  3. Add green leaves on top of each fruit shape.

  4. Use the white bullet tip marker to add delicate highlight dots.

  5. With the black brush tip marker, draw kawaii facial expressions on each fruit.

  6. Repeat the process with yellow marker to create lemons—add leaves and faces.

  7. Add blush details and tiny hearts using the pink marker.

  8. Paint the rim, handle, and bottom of the mug using the same pink for a cohesive look.

  9. Let everything dry completely before handling.

Project 2 | Floral Salad Plate

  1. Start by filling the center of the plate with different flower shapes using basic marks.

  2. Create flower impressions like lavender using dots in triangle shapes.

  3. Use the “tip kiss” method to blend colors for added depth (e.g., purple and blue).

  4. Vary the size, shape, and placement of the flowers for visual interest.

  5. Add curved lines and stems with green marker.

  6. Blend custom greens on bubble wrap (used as a palette) to add foliage and variety.

  7. Finish by painting the outer rim and center rim with lavender for a polished look.
