Prismacolor Premier NuPastel Color Sticks are artist-grade, square-profiled pastels designed for clean blending and precise mark-making. With a higher binder ratio than traditional soft pastels, they offer a firmer consistency that supports both crisp linework and subtle tonal layering. This makes them especially suitable for underdrawings, architectural studies, and illustration—any application where control and reduced smudging are important.

Despite their firmness, NuPastels contain a high pigment load for smooth, even coverage with minimal dust. They can be used dry for sharp, defined strokes or combined with water for softer blends and wash effects. The resulting finish is velvety and matte, though it may vary slightly depending on the surface texture and application pressure.

Each stick measures approximately 3-5/8" long × 1/4" square (92 mm × 6 mm), and can be sharpened with a knife or sandpaper block. Compatible with most pastel papers and boards, NuPastels also pair well with soft pastels and pastel pencils for layered, mixed-media work.
