The MCS Archival Series Frames with Mat is a solid wood frame with a UV glass face, an acid-free, lignin-free mat, and an acid-free, lignin-free mounting board. Ideal for protecting precious photos, artwork, and documents from discoloration and fading, these frames have a 1-3/4" wide profile, and a 0.49" deep rabbet. All sizes feature hanging hardware for vertical or horizontal hanging. The 8" x 10" size also has an easel back.
The 8" x 10" frame fits 5" x 7" artwork, with an actual opening of 4-1/2" x 6-1/2". The 11" x 14" frame fits 8" x 10" artwork, with an actual opening of 10-1/2" x 13-1/2". The 16" x 20" frame fits 11" x 14" artwork, with an actual opening of 15-1/2" x 19-1/2".
Frame Dimensions – Frames are measured by the size of the artwork they hold. Measure your artwork, mat, or panel, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork by about 1/4" on each side so it fits securely. If the frame includes a precut mat, the mat opening is indicated as Artwork Size.
Depth (Profile / Thickness) – How thick the frame moulding is from front to back, or how far it sticks out from the wall.
Rabbet Depth – The space inside the frame that holds your artwork and any materials used with it, like glass, matting, or backing. Make sure the total thickness of your materials fit within the rabbet depth.
