Im painting a 68"x48" wide piece and this easel holds it perfectly. Does not take too much room, very sturdy, elegant and perfect in price compare to others.
It was missing a few knobs so I contacted the customers department and in a few days I had the parts in my hand.
Excellent customer treatment.
I'll buy again here, no dough.

Bought the easel because I needed something to hold larger canvases. It's not the highest quality but I didn't buy it for that. It does what I wanted it to do with no issues. I can see that you do not want to over tighten the knobs or you would have problems.

The price obviously says that it's a low end model.
We've had zero slippage issues related in previous posts.
Zero breakage as well.
They hold the work well, though lack the adjustment of high end models, but the price isn't that of a high end model or anywhere near that price.
I got one for my wife and one for a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law, as what she was using was absurd, a presentation easel.
All are happy with this unit.

This easel seems solid and well made. But beware! I bought it specifically to work on a larger piece - 36 x 48 - but it can't hold the weight of the canvas. Now I have to sit on the floor to work on the bottom half of my work - not exactly comfortable. I will have to buy a new easel since I bought it in september and didn't try it out until now. I have also tried it with smaller canvases to the same effect. Even an 8x10 is enough to drop the tray to the floor, even when fully tightened. I may simply screw it in at a set height to gain some use out of this worthless piece.

It looks and feels very solid. For the price it's well put together except the most important piece that holds the canvas which is simply cheap and useless. Anything heavier than a few pounds will cause the whole thing to slide down. Careful here! No way this could hold a big canvas securely. After attempting to tighten one screw a bit more it broke(!). I should have looked at the reviews before. I'm not alone here. Blick's response saying "We apologize, it sounds as though you have received defective product" is true. But ALL those Easels seem to be "defective".

At first I liked how this easel was easy to set up and it appeared sturdy and well made. The canvas holder knobs were easy to adjust and seemed to grip well...this is vital. But the next morning the canvas holder was on the floor! The adjustment system is designed so that the canvas holder is on a diagonal cut to the mast, and the knobs adjust so that the tension holds it in place. Unfortunately this doesn't work, and no matter how tight I tried to make it it slipped out of place as soon as I tried to paint, even with just a small canvas on it. Designed to fail, apparently.

I had looked at this model in the store and was surprised how sturdy it seemed compared to others that were higher priced. I read the online reviews and was hesitant to buy but decided to get one yesterday. There is a big difference in price between the online and local store, but this is probably due to the fact you'd pay extra for shipping something this large. It was loose in a huge box with no packing, but appears to be undamaged. It comes mostly built and you just attach the two adjustable pieces to the mast to finish assembly. The mechanism that tightens the adjustable pieces on the mast are kinda strange, but I think the people that have had problems were over-tightening which led to cracking. I think this is a pretty nice easel for the price. You can't expect fine hardwood or fancy hardware in this price range. If you are a hobbyist - this fits the bill. If you are a professional full time artist, you probably will want something different.

This easel looks like a steal due to being an H-frame studio easel at a low price. The Other criticisms were mostly about the wood which is a wood used in similar priced products so I thought it was a fact of price. However, the construction was also bad. The hing at the bottom was not lined up straight. With 2 issues there was no way I was going to take a chance on it so I took it back. It was great to have the reviews in order to know to look closer. I ended up with a metal one that was in the same price range.(A bit cheaper.) It is still not the 'best' but at least the design and quality are there and the trade off of being light and easy to move is sometimes worth loosing some in sturdiness since I'm not ready to pay more at this time.

The fasteners are very cheaply made. When I tightened them to secure the canvas, they started crunching and breaking. This easel is now no good - won't hold a canvas. Bottom tray doesn't stay in place. Literally collapsed one evening with a small painting resting on it. Terrible crafstmanship.
Don't waste your money on this easel. Save up another $100 and get yourself a better quality item. I'm really sad that I spend my money on this, and needed to replace it within two weeks.
