JUST WHAT I WANTED

Comments about Mabef Artist Plus Easel M-07:
I needed an easel for my apartment studio that was sturdy and that I could work on for small and large paintings. This fits the bill perfectly. It's made of very sturdy solid wood, doesn't wobble when I use it, is light enough to push around my apartment if I need to move it, and the latches and everything work perfectly. The instructions were annoying but whatever - I have a great looking and usable easel after 1 hour of labor!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Solid, stable and compact: adjustments are smooth, variable. One does not need to contact top edge to make canvas secure. The shelf is useful. There was one glitch in construction - part B's hole is to small to accept locking metal projection in upright slat into the top of the shelf. Does not effect use, but is annoying at any price.
Highly recommend this easel Mabef M-07
Well designed and very sturdy. I gave this easel as a gift and the artist is absolutely loving it. Functions beautifully.

This easel funtions well and is easy to use. It is perhaps a bit too nice given that is going to get paint all over it, but it is attractive and solid. It will hold large canvases easily. Some things to think about. The mast is quite tall and if you work in a room with a low ceiling the mast may be too tall. I had to cut mine down by a foot as my studio is in an attic room with a low clearance. The shelf which comes with it doesn't seem very useful and makes the moveable part heavier than necessary. At the highest setting the bottom of the canvas is still a little low for me to work comfortably standing up. I'm about six feet tall. I have very little experience with other easels. I didn't want to rate this easel too highly as I don't have much to compare it with. However, it is very satisfactory. Blick had the best price I could find.
