Best's Kelley Easel is a crank easel with an adjustable mast. It's a modified version of an easel first seen in Paris about 1871.
Since then, the design has been altered and changed in size, color, and wood type by several companies. This is the Best version of that great French design.
Although designed for the portrait painter, it is a valuable tool for any painter. This easel will slant forward or backward. Adjust the height with a simple turn of the crank. Use it with canvases up to 84" (213 cm) tall. The easel is mounted on front locking plastic casters.
Constructed of solid oak, the Kelley Easel will become the focal point of any studio it resides in.
Some assembly required.

Quality of life
from Detroit, Michigan
Comments about Best Kelley Easel:
This has been a quality of life investment! It's very easy to use, and holds very large supports sturdily. It's on wheels for ease in moving. The only think that might need improvement; the crank handle might be nicer if it recessed while not in use, if I were to nit pick.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A beautiful easel
from Charlotte, NC
It's a very heavy and sturdy easel. It's well made and has a beautiful dark brown color, which I think is very unique. The easel doesn't go as low as I thought, but maybe it's because I like to sit on a low chair. For this kind of easel, I think the sale price is pretty decent although I did struggle a little bit before purchased it. Overall, very satisfied!

Having tried a few of this manufacturer's easels (Hailey, Dulce, and Elegant H), I find this one to fit my needs almost perfectly. I paint and draw on it using small to medium canvas sizes. I could also see how this easel would work well for pastel artists. I am able to use the easel, sitting down, without worrying about it hitting my 8' ceiling. I can adjust the height of the easel from a sitting position with ease just be adjusting the crank. This is great for keeping things at eye level. I use this luxury to great advantage all the time. Though you might think the crank would get in the way, this really isn't the case. You just turn it to a position away from your legs. I love the foot rest, something that many easels don't have. For it's size and weight, I find it to be quite sturdy and stable. There is a slight amount of forward-back play between the carriage and frame, necessary to facilitate vertical carriage movement. However, I do not find this to be a problem, even when I am leaning on the easel to do drawings. It would be nice if the casters were metal, but the plastic ones work okay. An extremely versatile easel, it's hard to see how this easel could disappoint. I'm quite surprised I don't see more of these easels around.
