Hand glazed in China, these pure white porcelain items are great for mixing inks and dyes and will not stain. The U-shaped palette includes 33 wells. The S-shaped palette includes 32 wells.

I wish I had bought this years ago

Comments about Porcelain Palettes:
This palette would have saved me a lot of the trouble I had with stained plastic palettes and too-small porcelain bowls. The wells are very deep and hold about half a tube of watercolor paint. The side wells are shallow and are probably best used for temporary colors. This is a solid piece. I love the way it feels. I really appreciate the large working spaces, both the rectangle and the S spaces. It saves me a lot of waste too. I was trying to measure out tiny/small amounts of paint in an effort to not waste any of the pigments. That was pretty futile. With the permanent palette, I get pretty much exactly what I need and when I need it with a lot less waste.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good hefty studio piece.

The description on the box and the website say and show pictures w/ 8 holes for brushes on two corners, but the palette I received doesn't have them so it was disheartening to feel like I received the wrong item. And I wish there were a plastic lid to keep dust out between uses. Or I'd even pay extra for a porcelain lid that could double as extra flat mixing space. Those two reasons are why I give it 4 stars not 5. It's otherwise a great palette for the studio. Too heavy to sit on a tripod shelf. And even though the size is the description I was impressed with how big it is in person. I like the separation the S makes and can use that to keep lighter or opaque mixes clear from transparent watercolor areas, or have three different color schemes without worrying about them muddying each other up. It will be my non-traveling permanent studio palette with how big/heavy it is which is why it could benefit from a cover, I love the size of the deep wells and like the shallower side wells for more temporary colors. And I have separate brush holders anyway. It's porcelain, that alone makes it worth it.

love my new porcelain pallette, after 20 years of plastic garbage I indulged and am really enjoying it, cleans up nice, no stains, so every new wash / mix colors look true on the pallet. I like the S design, nice dam between colors. The smaller wells I haven't found as useful and would have preferred deep wells all around, but am trying them out for temporary colors. Product description says there are brush holders which there are not, but good for me, I would never use them since it's bad practice to tip your brushes up and let the water soak into the ferrel - love the pallette

Mixing paint on porcelain is better than a plastic pallet. The paint lays flat as you mix it rather than beading up with a plastic pallet. The weight of the porcelain keeps the pallet from moving around. I even drag this heavy thing around when I travel because it works so well

This is a beautufully made, thoughtfully designed palette. Smooth as silk and the design has plenty of separate places for colors and mixing. It IS BIG, however, so keep that in mind.

This is what I've been looking for.

Great palette! I just don't care for the S-shaped well section, rather I wish the whole thing was flat. Otherwise, it's great to have some working space and a smooth clean surface to mik and experiment with. All the paint wells are nice and deep so there is no chance you will contaminate a neighboring colour. It's also pretty heavy and large, so it makes for some interesting en plein air painting. I just wish it came with a cover or wooden case to keep out the dust and facilitate transportation. Overall, it's great. I'd buy it again.
