I bought one of these a while ago and it is quite handy; I wasn't looking for anything particularly high quality, I just wanted something cheap I could mix paint in. They are not waterproof, but I typically use it around the house anyway, so this is not a real problem; just something to keep in mind if you want a palette for Plein Air, you'd be better off spending a bit more on a sealable Mijello one or something.
The Blick palette has plenty of wells for colours and a decent amount of large mixing areas. Some colours have stained slightly (eg. pthalo blue) but these are high staining colours and tend to affect everything anyway. I have also bought one for my Nan and put some tube colours in it for her and she loves her little watercolour paint kit as it lets her sit and paint in her garden with lots of colours.

-My Home palette now and forever. I bought the small size years ago. It is the most comfortable for watercolors indoors or out. The fit using the thumb rest is perfect for me. The design allows for moving around without getting in the way. Each section has a mixing area and another off to the side.

-It isn't waterproof.
Staining is an easy clean up with baking soda for most of the color removal. What is left doesn't interfere with mixing.
Don't add acrylic because it will be difficult to remove. You need to dry the palette before you close it.

I use this palette for my beginner's classes...it's not real expensive..I use 11 colors (blick student grade) and put a dab of each in the wells for my students..add 2 inexpensive decent student grade brushes and a strathmore 140# watercolor tablet ..at a decent materials cost per student...this is enough to get them started, if the students decide that they no longer wish to pursue the watercolor adventure, they have not spent a small fortune for the materials..if they decide to continue, they have the info and can purchase the tubes of paint and other materials needed on their own. This works out very well for all concerned. I always buy the products needed when they are offered on sale and pass the savings on to my students...

- it doesn't close snuggly;
- similar item with better quality can be bought cheaper at other art supplies.

For the price this is a good palette. It is cheeply made but at this price one is to expect this. It provides its function. Stores paint in one convient place for use.

Things to concider: You have to leave it out for the paints to dry. You can not just close this up and run, if you do your paints will run into each other, and out of the palette. There is no seal to keep this air tight. And in some places there is quite a gap.

Because I need the luxury of pickup and go I far prefer the other palette I purchased (Martin Universal Design Mijello Airtight Leak-Proof Palettes) This was more costly, but way worth it in my opinion for the pick up and go factor.
