Arches Art Board is ready for framing without mounting, eliminating a step as well as the added expense. The art finished on acid-free paper is displayed and protected on two-ply, 1.2 mm archival Canson conservation board, making self-preservation simple. Buffered, without optical brightening agents, and treated to resist mold, these boards are compliant to ISO 9706, the standard for permanent paper.

Arches Art Board is the ultimate choice for watercolor, gouache, or ink washes. It features a natural white, handmade French paper. Choose from cold press, hot press, or rough surface textures.

I've tried so many watercolor papers and boards over the years, and this one is definitely the best. All Arches products are superb, but I love this the best because it's rigid and has a nice texture (I use cold press).

This is a terrificboard for illustration

I had accidentally dripped some Paynes Grey from my brush onto the surface of my illustration. I was NOT looking forward to the do over I had coming. Then I got clean water and a q-tip and was able to lift out the random offending drip. It was totally awesome. There was no "aura" where the stain had been. Great board, perfect for rapidiograph and watercolor. Oh- this was on the coldpress board.

Colored Pencil on Artboard

Though recommended for watermedia, I tried Arches artboard (hotpressed) using colored pencils by Caran d'Ache (Luminance) and loved it. The smooth surface helped with fine detailing and I was amazed at the number of layers I could use. Not sure if the brand of colored pencils makes a difference? Though the artboard doesn't appear to have sufficient tooth for multiple layers of colored pencil, it worked beautifully and I was able to blend with a blending stump without worrying I would flatten the tooth and limit the number of layers received. I can't comment on whether this would work as well if I used other brands but since Caran d'Ache Luminance is now my only choice for working with I have found the perfect partner for them in Arches HP artboard - and they are both professional grade, archival and ready for framing without worrying about buckling. Perfect!

I am using pieces of the Board as ground for silverpoint drawing and for drybrush watercolor. It works exceedingly well for both. It presents a rough tooth for the silverpoint but it is very easy to shade on the light side and also obtain deep darks.

Great for the price. Even without the favorable pricing, excellent surface. I will be trying other media.

Shipping was timely, well-wrapped. No damage whatsoever.

Arches is the finest paper made for my drawings. There are other beautiful fine papers such as Strathmore 500 Series but this Arches is the absolute best quality.

I used this board at its full size for a commissioned piece using pen and ink details with watercolor and I was VERY pleased with the results. Watercolor techniques such as using salt in a wash reacted well and mediums held well even in areas where I had removed pencil due to a change in the layout of the design. The Rapidograph pens handled well on the surface and I was able to obtain the desired details that I was going for.
