Created in 1893, this 100% cotton fiber, acid-free bristol is an industry standard.
It's available in Vellum and Plate surfaces. Plate (Hot Press) is unsurpassed for fine pen and pencil work, allowing flat and even washes. The Vellum (Cold Press) surface is designed for pencil, colored pencil, soft to hard charcoal, hard pastel, and oil pastel. It is also suitable for washes and gouache. Both surfaces are excellent for airbrush.
Note — Some sizes are cut down from larger sheets. Therefore, the sheet you receive may not have watermarks.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Comments about Strathmore 500 Series Bristol Pads:
The 500 Series is by far the best paper you can use in the Bristol category. True acid free and archival. It is a pleasure to put and ink tip to.

Quality is awesome!
By Keyce Aaron Benge

I was using the 300 series and it was great, but when I got this I noticed a pretty noticeable difference. It is definitely high quality. The only slight negative aspect about this product is the price. I understand that it is high quality but it is a tad expensive for only 15 sheets. Not ridiculously expensive, but getting close to it.
Best paper for my graphite work
from Sabina, Ohio
I use this paper for multiple layers of graphite that I blend to get the values I want. It has plenty of tooth, but smooth enough for the blending.

This is surely a high quality paper. It has a beautiful surface that renders a nice textured look. Softer graphite pencils highlight the texture and it's easy to blend with a brush or cotton ball and fill in the valleys of the paper. If you desire less texture go with the 300 series. When I bought this pad, it came with a indent that reached all the way till the last page. I contacted Blick and the next day I had a brand new and pristine pad!!! Thank you so much Blick for the awesome customer service!

This paper is easily a very high-quality Bristol paper. It's considered a hot plate paper since it is so smooth. The price is comprable to other places but the service that Blick provides far outweighs everyone else which makes this paper a greater value for sure.
Tried and true
from N. Michigan and S. Florida
Strathmore bristle board is a top quality slick surface for watercolor unlike other surfaces like Hot Press wc paper. I can lift wc off so easily. I used it years ago and am back to use it again. This particular order was the requirement of my invitation to exhibit in Fabriano, Italy, as a backing for my painting. But I ordered an extra to "play" with after many years.
Great for botanical illustration in watercolor
I use this paper for watercolor botanical illustration. The results are fantastic (not due to my expertise!) because the colors just seem to glow on the very white page. It must be said that I am a beginner and have not used many other papers, but Arches, while good, does inevitably make for fuzzy edges. It is easy to get clear, crisp edges on the Strathmore 500, 4 ply, vellum finish. The colors also flow just as I want them to when applied. I would encourage people to use this paper as scraps to assess the color to be used before putting it on the page--I have had the surprise of quite a different color on the Strathmore from whatever scraps of other papers I have been using for testing. I plan to continue using this paper for the foreseeable future and strongly suggest you give it a try if you want a clear crisp picture. The only "con" is that it comes only in large pieces which must be cut down, rather than in pads. I find it worth the extra work to cut it down myself, but if you don't want to invest in 10 pages you are going to have to pay an additional fee. Still, I think it is worth it. Highly recommended.

Strathmore series 500 vellum

from New York City
I draw in black and white ink. This paper in addition to being of archival quality, is excellent for the medium I use. The paper is also strong, which I like.

I am using this paper for a watercolor and gouche painting. The paper is extremely durable, and it holds up no mater what I throw at it. I would totally use this product again.
