Crescent Hot Press Illustration Boards have very smooth surfaces, and are used for pen-and-ink, mounting, transfer lettering, and graphic design. They're also suitable for keylines, acrylic washes, airbrush, and adhesive film. Crescent boards are of excellent quality.

Crescent No. 201 Hot Press Illustration Board is a medium weight board with high rag content. Each board is 16-ply and 0.055" (1.4 mm) thick.

I have a 16 x 20 pen and ink detailed, drawing of a large dahlia I call Black Dahlia in various shades of purples and blacks that I did in Nov 1991 that has not been framed, has bounced around in a suitcase in a cross country move, stored behind a cabinet, and still looks as nice now as when I did it. It is 20 years old, and a tremendous testament to the longevity of Crescent Boards. Because of it I signed onto Dick Blick to shop for a full set of supplies, and Crescent Boards so I can do more of these to sell online.

I do highly detailed wildlife art; and a lot of it. I have tried many drawing surfaces, and for workability. and quality of surface.it is the best I have ever worked with. The medium is colored pencil.The "grab" or tooth is less than on most other surfaces, so it allows the laydown of the medium in a smooth, even fashion, while also giving you the true color and intensity that you expect.
