Great for graphite. I was very impressed with the packaging. The box was kind of beat up, but the packaging keep the boards flat and in perfect condition. Great job.

I use this for covers in bookbinding. It is stiff and strong, and takes glue well. I also use it for making small boxes and trays.

Crescent #110 Illustration Board 30" x 40"
By Art Center College of Design old timer
I've painted 1500 paintings on this board since it was introduced in the 1970's. Two years ago it was reformatted and is now an inferior product. When using watercolor or gouache on it it warps severely. The surface is fragile as is the backing . Both back and front sides peel off with the use of masking tape. The paper is reluctant to accept the paint and one must keep applying over and over and leaves a somewhat ragged paint edge as compared to the old board. I hope Crescent Co. will bring back the old board even if it costs more.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've used Crescent boards for years

I do large crayon drawings. I like the slight texture. The thickness of the 24-ply gives great stability and is easily mounted.
Best Illustration board!
Crescent No. 110 Cold Press Illustration Board is the best surface for my art style. I use this illustration board for all of my illustrations. I first transfer my drawing onto the illustration board, refine the drawing, use a light wash of acrylics, render everything with my Prismacolor Colored Pencils and then go back for any touch up SPFX with the acrylics, such as highlights and accents. I have been looking for the best surface for my style and technique for my colored pencils. I've tried bristol boards to other illustration boards, but the Crescent No. 10 Cold Press works the best! I have just purchased more of the illustration board so I always have it when I need it. I will always use this board and never use anything else. Highly recommended! Price is amazing and your getting more for what you paid for!

I regularly abuse the Crescent Illustration boards by splashing, rubbing and scrubbing with brushes and gouache paints. The surface never lets me down! When the paper begins to break down a bit, I can let it dry, and smooth it out with sandpaper. It's indestructible. Since it's double weight, I can really soak it, and it warps very little. If it does warp, I wet down the back side, let it dry, and it's once again flat. Great product!
I would buy this product again.

more reliable than my local art supply
I do large paintings in gouache, so need the double weight illustration board to help from warping. When I purchase at my local art store, often they have only a few boards...sometimes none. Same goes for Winsor and Newton gouache. Ordering from DB means that I know in advance what's available, and that it will be delivered in short order! Thanks

Crescent Illustration Board Cod Press
By Elizabeth P

For years I have used this illustration board for very tight watercolor. For the last few years the quality has steadily declined. I find myself painting over and over my work because the absorption has become so poor. I am now trying to find a different material to paint on.
