Good - Just What I Needed

I use oil board to cut custom stencils. This one was for someone who wanted me to cut her logo as a stencil so that she could make a large sign. Oil board was used for stencil making long before plastic was invented because it can be used over and over and does not absorb paint. The board is treated with a waxy oil coating so ink cannot penetrate. Oil board is typically .15" thick as this one is. That is thick enough that it can be used multiple times but thin enough to cut. It is easier to cut than card board but still usually needs 2 passes with an exacto knife to get all the way through. This sheet is 24x36". I used a ruler for most of it and then limited my free hand cutting to the curves. If you want a precise cut, you will need some knife skills. The one difference from the description is that it was not shipped in a tube. The listing says it will be rolled up and shipped in a tube. It was actually shipped flat in a 25x37" box. This is preferable because stencils should be kept flat as much as possible to get good results when applying paint. The price was fair, shipping wasn't bad. I appreciate that you can buy it by the sheet because many places only sell oil board in mass quantities.

Used the oil paper to create stencil patterns for a theatrical setting that required a faux wallpaper design. I wanted two stencils to be used at once and cutting through both pieces was easy and accurate. They held together throughout the application process (sponging). I will definitely use this product again!

Glad to find a good source

I use oil board to make stained glass patterns. I adhere my pattern drawing to the oil board with spray adhesive, then cut each pattern piece and glue it to the glass for cutting. The wonderful thing about this is that the board holds up to the water from the grinder, and lifts off the glass with a gentle soak in water. I prefer the canary yellow which was not available and had to go with brown as in a paper bag.
