For all of its usefulness, acetate does cause a few headaches — ink that won't stay, a yellow or grayish cast to old acetate, edges that curl. The alternatives are expensive and sometimes just don't suit the purpose.
Dura-Lar is the acetate alternative. It combines the best features of Mylar® and acetate, and offers a variety of products so that you can purchase the film that suits your needs precisely. It is always consistent in color and overall clarity, and won't discolor with age.
Dura-Lar is archival quality, safe for overlaying artwork, and it lays flat. It will remain dimensionally stable for as long as you need.
Designed for layouts, color separations, protective covering, or overhead transparencies. It's available in individual sheets (larger sizes), in pads of 25 sheets (smaller sizes), and in rolls of varying lengths and widths.
Note — The .015" thick and .020" thick sizes are provided with a protective masking on both sizes. This must be removed before using.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Love this! Perfect, so clear and packaged wonderfully.
I am a crafter and I wanted something to store my stamps on that would be thick and sturdy enough to slide in and out of the clear pockets I use. This is perfect! They are shipped with a protective film over each which is great...no scratches! Will buy more for certain.

I purchased this sheet of Dura - lar to cut to put on the back of my clear stamps. It is firm enough that it gives me a nice backing for the stamps. I then cut a piece of white card stock and place both in a clear vinyl envelope. I am very organized. The Dura-lar does not destroy your stamps.
Archival book jackets
Perfect for hardcover book archival jackets.
Great for all projects that require dura-lar

Used this with the Dale Chihuly project, used for representing stained glass, and for the Edward Hopper (looking through my window).
We use this in my screen print class to register layers of printer ink. Works well, and holds up fairly well with multiple uses.

First time I've used this type of product but it is working superbly for map overlays marked with permanent pens. Totally satisfied.

Okay, so I'll admit I'm not an expert in acetate. I've used it a little in the past, but I certainly don't have much experience with acetate. I'm just a lowly a crafter, and I ordered this product to make Christmas cards this year. I didn't realize it was "acetate alternative" until I received it. At first I was disappointed, but then I tried it. It works great! In my minimal experience with acetate, I knew how it was supposed to act (from a crafting perspective anyway), and this works great. You can fold it, and you can stamp on it with Staz-On inks (not water-based inks, obviously). It's very clear and crisp-looking. I would recommend this product.

Used the Blick tutorial online for the butterfly for our kids at our Vacation Bible eXperience. Was not sure how we were going to use the end product, but will just be letting them take the full sheet for a stained glass look. The kids really, really had fun with it. The adults had to make one, too! Try it!!!!
