Golden Digital Grounds turn just about any relatively flat surface into a printable surface. These mediums can be used on acrylic skins, metal, specialty papers, and more. Printed images come out clear and crisp, with great color.
While almost any porous, flat surface can be run through an inkjet printer — including off-the-shelf papers made for printmaking and watercolor — the resulting images are frequently dull, faint, or blurry. This is caused by an overly absorbent substrate: there's no way to encapsulate or prevent the ink from spreading outward or penetrating too far into the surface.
Conversely, on non-porous materials like acetate, plastic, and metal, inks readily pool up, run, and are easily smeared by both the printer mechanism and subsequent handling.
Golden Digital Grounds help control how the ink resides on the surface (which affects color density), and protect inks from pollutants that can cause air fade.
Digital Ground for Non-Porous Surfaces
This ground is similar to the Clear Gloss, but is optimized for increased adhesion and performance on non-porous surfaces such as aluminum, copper, metal foil, marble, and plastics such as Mylar, Lexan, Plexiglas, and acetate. Surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and free of oils before applying.
Digital Ground, Clear Gloss
This clear ground with a gloss sheen is ideal for use on most absorbent surfaces, including watercolor and printmaking papers, Japanese rice paper and other specialty papers, canvas, various fabrics, wallpaper, leather, and unsealed wood veneer. After application, the underlying material is allowed to show through.
Digital Ground, White Matte
A porous, opaque, white ground for use on a wide variety of surfaces, including watercolor and printmaking papers, Japanese rice paper and other specialty papers, canvas, various fabrics, wallpaper, leather, and unsealed wood veneer. Like other porous ink-jet coatings, this ground allows prints to dry very quickly, making it the safest choice for use with unmodified desktop printers that have "pizza wheels" or ejection rollers. It is also an ideal starting point for the first-time user who is looking for the most trouble-free application on a wide range of materials.

Works very well.
I use this product to add printing to my already completed artwork. I do watercolor acrylic paintings and add printmaking to them. Digital ground helpls this process. It is very affordable for the type of product that is.
Easy to use! Loveit!

Excellent product to coat my handmade paper for printing.
Great for digital experiments!
I have used this product on alternative printing substrates, such as rice paper and fabric. This product prevents the ink from absorbing too much and gives you a clearer, and brighter print. I use a large format Epson printer. For best results, I recommend two or three coats, especially if you want consistent results. I tend to put it on with a dry brush to get brush marks, but this is a personal choice.

works to print on film
This worked really well to use for coating acetate or other transparent film, and then print on with an inkjet printer, which is what I bought it for. However, that essential other part of the equation was to then transfer the print to a substrate using a transfer medium. this did not work. the ink stayed on the film. So, since I can't get the image off after printing, the digital ground has no use for me that I can think of. If I want to print onto something like canvas or paper and not transfer it to something else, I would use it. But, when I print on canvas or paper, I just buy printable media for inkjets.

Print on almost anything

I haven't tried all the digital grounds yet although I purchased them. I tried printing on canvas paper before and got washed-out results. Now I get almost exactly what I wanted. I altered a couple of settings and got an amazing reproduction using my Epson R1900 which is a wide-printer. A coating of Gel Topcoat gave me a great picture. Now to try the others. If they're anything like the white digital ground I know I'll be pleased.

A new and exciting acrylic medium that allows for digital printing on any surface that is thin enough to run through a printer. This demonstration shows how it's done.
