Molding Pastes, also called Modeling Pastes, can be used to add textured relief to a painting. Create thick impasto layers, Mix them with other products, such as Golden Acrylic colors. Molding Pastes are water-based, formulated with 100% acrylic polymer emulsions. Non-toxic.
Coarse Molding Paste
An opaque acrylic medium with a sandy texture. For building surfaces or as a ground for drawing media. Retains tool marks and peaks. Crystalline appearance.
Explorer Set of 3
Sample three of Golden's versatile acrylic mediums. The Explorer Set includes a 2 oz (59 ml) bottle of Gloss Glazing Liquid, a 4 oz (118 ml) jar of Molding Paste, and a 4 oz (118 ml) jar of Regular Gel Matte.
Extra Heavy Molding Paste
This light gray, semi-opaque texture medium is great for building texture. It retains tool marks and peaks and dries to a slightly translucent appearance. It also mixes cleanly with color.
Create rough, flexible, paper-like surfaces on canvas or board. Use as a ground or a texture.
Hard Molding Paste
Provides the hardest, opaque, matte finish. Useful for creating tough, durable finishes for smooth or textured surfaces. Can be carved with hand or powered tools when dry.
Light Molding Paste
Dramatically reduces the weight traditional molding paste would add, while increasing flexibility. Holds peaks and dries to a soft, flexible, opaque, matte finish. Makes an excellent ground for watercolor-like techniques.
An off-white, semi-opaque medium for building texture, Molding Paste dries to a hard yet flexible film and has a satin finish. Its consistency is similar to that of Golden Gels, but is slightly more rigid because of its higher density. Molding Paste holds stiff peaks and tool marks to create highly textured surfaces. Use alone or blend with acrylic mediums or colors.

Golden past mediums are truly golden
from mt. olive illinois
I thought this medium works the best when using watercolor with it, not only does it give amazing texture to a page but when you allow it to cure overnight and then use it with paint it really brings out the vibrancy pigment in the paints, especially used in conjunction with watercolor, and for the amount and price you should have it for a year, or more.. I spreads nice I recommend it
Golden Paste Molding Mediums on a Mural on an External Brick Wall
By Joyce the Muralist
from San Jose, CA
I was hired to paint a mural on an exterior brick wall. The mortar between the bricks had large holes. I used regular construction grade exterior putty to fill the big holes. This type of putty is extremely heavy. I painted the area with a white acrylic primer and then added the Golden Molding Paste Mediums between the bricks to make the gaps less severe or to smooth out the wall. The mural is approximately 13 feet square and I used 2 gallons of the product to fill in the gaps. The lighter weight of the Golden Molding Mediums was perfect. I blended the Light Molding Paste and Molding Paste to reduce to weigh and to create a great substrate for my mural. Thanks.

Another home run from Golden paints
By Chris Brooklyn Dreamland
from Brooklyn NY
I have been painting with acrylics for over 30 years. I have recently begun using acrylic mediums in my work. The Golden Molding paste mediums are great for adding texture. The Extra-Heavy Gel Molding paste is fantastic. The Light Molding paste adds a bit more granularity and is much more matte.
Molding Paste on a mural
I am painting a mural in San Jose, CA with lots of texture. I did not want the heaviness of the extra heavy molding paste, so I mixed one gallon of extra heavy molding paste with one gallon of light molding paste together. The consistency was just perfect. I covered the molding paste with tinted gesso which adhered very well.

Light Molding Paste - Good Stuff
By RJR Custom Designs
from Meridian, MS
Works really well, I like using it to create texture and layers. Price is a little high but that goes for anywhere you buy it. Otherwise, good stuff!
