Scholastic and Classroom Brushes

Scholastic doesn't mean cheap or shoddy. Scholastic brushes are designed to meet the needs of teachers, so they don't have the performance of fine artist brushes. We designate some of our own scholastic brushes as "economy grade" for the teacher who really needs a low price brush. But the better scholastic brushes are not cheap. They're tough and sturdy, for the classroom teacher who plans to make them last through many class periods.

Camel Hair does not come from camels at all. It is found in watercolor and lettering brushes and usually is made of squirrel, goat, ox, pony or a blend of several hairs, depending on the desired softness and intended cost of the brush.
