This premium-quality, neutral-colored sanded pastel paper combines quality, consistency, and durability.
The 240 grade has the largest tooth available. The 400 and 500 grade have a moderate "bite," while the 600 and 800 grade are super fine. All grades accept many layers of hard or soft pastels, yet also work well with other mediums.
The low-profile surface allows for easy erasing. Each sheet is pH neutral and acid-free.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Best pastel paper in my opinion
By Painter Sue
Comments about UArt Sanded Pastel Paper:
Uart sanded paper is just the best pastel paper out there, in my humble opinion. Many of the other sanded pastel papers are much too rough for my taste. But Uart 400-600 grades are just perfect. And they handle most any type of wet underpainting technique I want to use. Strong, durable and good tooth.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Best Sanded Pastel Paper
I have used UArt 400 grade for years. It accepts washes with water, thinner, and alcohol. If you apply the pastel layers lightly you don't have to worry about the paper filling up.

I usually use Wallis Museum grade sanded paper, which is not available much anymore.I bought 2 small pieces of UArt sanded paper in 400 and 500 grit to try. The 400 is most like what I am used to. However, the quality of the paper itself does not seem professional. It feels and looks like a piece of sandpaper for sanding. I also bought a piece of Hand Book Premier Pastel sanded paper and the difference in quality is obvious. That paper is heavy and solid and feels like the Wallis.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I used 400 grade. This is the first time that Ive used this type of pastel paper. What an amazing difference. If you want heavy rich pastels this is the paper for you. This is the first time that Ive tried pastels since I was a teen. The experience was so discouraging that I haven't tried it since - until now. What a difference this paper makes. This is pastel painting! I would buy this paper even if it wasn't on sale.
Excellent packaging for shipment

I am very pleased with the product and am especially impressed with the extra care that is given to the packaging used for shipment of large papers. Shipping fee was very reasonable. I live in a rural area and Blick has become my main art supply source.
My go-to sanded paper for soft and oil pastels
Uart became my go-to sanded paper after having tried about 6 different brands. I use the 400-500-600 grit for PanPastels and oil pastels as well. The paper is predictable and easy to work with. It takes layer after layer after layer... And those fine grits allow finger blending!
U-Art Pastel Paper
U-Art pastel paper is wonderful to use with soft pastel because it holds the pastels and also allows for layering of colors.
UArt Sanded Pastel Paper

All of my veteran pastel artist friends and instructor Gerald Boyd recommended UArt sanded 400 grit pastel paper. I spent 2 days with 7 other SWA artists in a pastel painting workshop at the SWA Gallery near San Francisco. I checked into other pastel paper brands and UArt was the best price for the kind of paper required for the workshop. I had a great time using my new pastels from Blick on my UArt pastel paper, however, I started blending using the tip of my middle finger and sanded off my finger prints! I learned quickly that pastels are to be layered, not blended. I'm actually accustomed to blending using tortillons from Blick, but I later found that they knock the pastel off the sanded paper. Mr. Boyd offered samples of 500 and 600 grit UArt pastel paper to experiment with. It was all so much fun!
