This premium-quality, neutral-colored sanded pastel paper combines quality, consistency, and durability.
UArt Premium Sanded Pastel Paper Pads are flip-pads that hold 10 acid-free, pH-neutral sheets of paper, separated by acid-free glassine sheets that protect work from smudging and flaking. The 400 grade has a moderate "bite," while the 600 grade is super fine. Both accept many layers of hard or soft pastels, yet also work well with other media.
The low-profile surface allows for easy erasing.

Comments about UArt Premium Sanded Pastel Paper Pads:
I actually bought the wrong grade . I meant to buy 500 grade . The lower the number the rougher it is and man is this rough . I am use to Clariefaontaine pastelmat so this has been a challenge ....I went to my local Blich today and I bought the 600 block to see how that one does
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Never tried any sand paper before, this is my first time, and I love it. I have 400 grit. Will definitely try the other grits too!

Worth every penny
Since pastel medium is new to me, I hesitated before ordering an expensive paper like this, but after reading about professional artists' preferences I decided to give it a try. It is true that really good quality art supplies enhance the experience of creation, and your final "masterpiece".
I would buy again

Great for pastels and colored Pencils
By PAM THE ARTIST
does great for hard and soft pastses. can eat up corlored pencil ... I used a sovent with them.
600 Grade, Very nice!
This is the first time I have tried sanded papers for my pastel drawings. It holds the pastel very well and lets you add tons of layers. For pastel pencils, I like the 800 grade better but for other pastels, the 600 grade is great. I will be buying again.

Planning 2 weeks in south France, but we pack very light. This pad with glassine sheets, small sketchbook, very small pack of pastels, hard to soft. I'm ready. Wheels up!

As good as the best
By Bill Hansen
from Ithaca New York
This is excellent sanded paper for pastels, pencils, and similar media. It's as good as the best - not "best in its category" only because there are a few other brands which are as good. But UArt is readily available in the US and it's easy to obtain, which is a big advantage over some other brands. It's rugged, stands up to liquid media like water and alcohol washes, and it's available in several grades, or "tooth". It's slightly less expensive than competing brands. I wish it came in different colors, but if you're willing to do an underpainting with watercolors, acrylics, or alcohol wash, that disadvantage goes away.
