Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils are the most popular colored pencils we sell. Each colored pencil features a thick, soft core made from brilliant, light-resistant pigments, to ensure smooth, rich laydown and color saturation.

The colors are easily blended, slow to wear, break-resistant, and waterproof. Each 3.8 mm core is enclosed in a round cedar casing that is lacquered to match the core.

Choose from a variety of sets — or replenish your favorites with individual colored pencils. Set contents are listed on the Item Specs tab of this page.

Note — Set contents may occasionally vary from the colors listed.

Note — Manual sharpening is recommended for these pencils. Clogging can be prevented in electric sharpeners by periodically sharpening a graphite pencil to keep the blades clean.

I use your pencils exclusively to color/code and highlight blueprints. The leads are the perfect consistency to differentiate between colors and do not fade into each other. This is helpful to clearly organize piping systems for building projects.

Beautiful pencils but lots of breakages

I'm just finishing my training to be a Waldorf teacher, and bought these pencils about a year ago. We do lots of work with colored pencil, both drawing and also writing with them. I absolutely love their smooth laydown, and the ability to get from light colors to very solid coverage. However, they break constantly while sharpening. In some cases, you can go through a third of the pencil before you get a point that isn't broken off. I have gotten around this by using a knife to sharpen as my teachers suggested, but it's very hard to get and keep a sharp point for writing that way. I'm definitely off in search of a different brand of pencil to use with my class. These are great, but really not worth the waste of time and material from breakage.

I have been using Prismacolor Colored Pencils for more than three years now for detailed, and sometimes highly finished sketches; I am very happy with their performance. They shade, blend, and outline well. And they come in a very large -- if not the largest -- range of colors.

I have also tried Faber-Castell, Derwent, and Caran D'Ache, but the Prismacolors are still the best pencils at the most reasonable price. I suggest buying a large set rather than buying a few at a time.

I have used other kinds of colored pencils but Prismacolor has the best quality by far. The pencils are extremely easy to blend. Be sure to buy the Prismacolor colorless blender to get even better results. Although they were higher in price they are worth the extra money by far.
