One sharpener, two uses! The Prismacolor Pencil Sharpener features two blades for narrow and wide point sharpening. This sharpener works great with Prismacolor colored pencils, graphite, and Prismacolor Verithin pencils. Made in Germany, the blades sharpen pencils to a precise point.
A sliding cover keeps shavings from spilling and a transparent housing lets you see when the shavings receptacle needs to be emptied. The sharpener’s small design also makes it great for tucking into a bag or backpack.

Large enough to hold a sufficient amount shavings, not so large as to be bulky in my hand.
from Sun Prairie
I really like this sharpener with the option of two sizes and sharp blades.
No more pencil shavings in my travel art bag
Holds shavings, no bunching up at the top and great sharpeners!

For colored pencils, better than an electric.
from Bronx, NY
Colored pencils have a history of breaking often when sharpened due to a softer lead. It is fifty-fifty when you put them in an electric, which may be great for graphite, but not for colored pencils. This little manual sharpener is the best I have used for colored pencils and helps to maintain the very sharp point artists rely on.
Who knew the secret to sharpenning ?

I watched a video for how to use sharpeners to my surprise, the excellent video explained the #1 problem of broken lead can largely be avoided by turning the sharpener with your drawing hand and holding the pencil still with the opposite hand. The blade and case are very sturdy and for all the years I have watched electric sharpeners eat by pencils this tip was great. you have a choice of long or short point and they both work well .
We have bought several pencil sharpeners and nothing would sharpen our Prismacolor pencils. Saw that there was a sharpener available from Prisma and it is GREAT!!!!!
The finest which I have seen.
from Winston-Salem, NC
This sharpener has a slot that will produce a point more closely akin to that of an old fashioned, wall-mounted pencil sharpener, which is more desirable than the other pencil sharpeners that give you a point like those found on the score-card pencils at most, if not all golf courses!
ok if it is for kids
for professional it doesn't compare to the bullet shape Prismacolor sharpener it is okay for graphite but not for colored pencils
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Once I figured out how to empty it...
from Troy WV
I don't know why they put that black sliding cover on, as it works just fine without it and you can dump it anytime if you leave the stupid sliding cover off! Sharpens very well and I like the idea that the shavings are contained and don't end up all over the place.
